Michael J Lewis started his career in Aberystwyth, Wales as a choirboy, aged 6. Three rehearsals  and two services on Sunday added up to 10 miles a week, trudged through all sorts and conditions of Welsh weather: mostly wet and stormy. The vicar (priest) had a bad temper, the choirmaster/organist tended to be explosive, but the majesty of the hymns and the drama of the 3 manual Nicolson organ overrode human idiosyncrasies and seeped into the very soul of the young choirboy. The love of ecclesiastical music has remained ever powerful through Michael’s life. The great hymn tunes of England, Germany and his native Wales have provided great strength in times of trial and boundless joy each and every time a hymn book is opened and noble tunes are played on his 1894 Bechstein. Michael hopes to complete a recorded collection of his choral and organ works by early 2014. Give Peace, O God and Codiad yr Hedydd (Rising of the Lark) are the first tracks to be completed.
